Emergency Leave of Absence

What is an Emergency Leave of Absence?

An Emergency Leave of Absence (ELOA) may be granted when a student cannot continue attending class after the start of the term due to life-changing situations beyond the student’s control. Students interested in requesting an emergency leave are encouraged to contact We Care. Students can request an Emergency Leave of Absence via the Student Hub.

Emergency leaves are only taken after the date to drop without a W grade each term. Please see the current academic calendar for specific dates for each program.

Emergency leaves are processed by We Care. Please contact We Care for more information or questions at wecare@northeastern.edu or at 617-373-7591.

International students must discuss maintenance of U.S. immigration status with an advisor at OGS before requesting any type of leave of absence.
